How it works
- Available to homeowners aged 60 and over
- You keep ownership of your home and keep living in it
- No required monthly repayments — interest capitalises onto the loan
- The loan is repaid when the home is sold, you move permanently, or from the estate
- Australian reverse mortgages are protected by a No Negative Equity Guarantee — you can never owe more than the home sells for
Lump sum, income stream, or line of credit
You can draw the money as a one-off lump sum, as a regular income stream to supplement the pension, as a line of credit you dip into when needed, or as a combination of all three.
The Home Equity Access Scheme (Services Australia)
In addition to private reverse mortgages, the Australian Government offers the Home Equity Access Scheme — a lower-interest, income-stream-only product administered by Services Australia. We'll walk you through whether it suits you better than a private product before you commit either way.

Where appropriate, we encourage involving adult children or an independent advisor.
Settle
Independent legal advice is a legal requirement — we help you arrange it.
Important before you decide
Reverse mortgages are a serious long-term decision. Interest compounds. The equity left for your estate shrinks over time. We will always encourage you to consider alternatives — downsizing, state assistance, family support — before recommending a reverse mortgage.
